My Trip

This is really late, eleven months late actually, but here is a video of my trip. It shows some of the places I went, like the Roman Baths, and it also has some clips of dancers in Ireland. Sorry this is posted eleven months after my trip. Hope you enjoy it though!

Here we are. My whole People to People team outside a cathedral in Andover, England. The cathedral was cool. This was towards the end of the trip during my homestay. By this time in the trip I had 13 new friends.

Also, thanks to The Gift Box in Provincetown for supporting my trip. Be sure to visit them!

MOM Update

Corelle's mom here. Corelle's been on her People to People trip encountering lots of rain in England, Scotland and Wales and some sun in Ireland. Only two short phone calls so I've little to report for her. They've had difficulty accessing computers so she'll update the blog after the trip. From the sounds of laughs and giggles of other kids in the background, I'd say it's a great trip so far!

Many thanks to the Whitman House (best fresh fish, especially bass), Farland Provisions (best sandwiches, soups and hospitality in Ptown) and the Provincetown Banner for their recent donations and support.

Leaving

Tomorrow I 'll be leaving on my expedition! I've raised over $4600 with donations still coming. Lately, the Provincetown Police, Bubala's by the Bay( a cool restaurant in Ptown) and The Truro Vineyards supported my trip.

I'm packed and have my Euros, Pounds, and my mom's ATM card. I also have an international phone card that I have no idea how to use. Friday I got my hair redone in Maine and tomorrow morning I'm going fishing with my brother before I leave.

First stop is Buckingham Palace - maybe I'll see the Queen. Oh, today I got interviewed by the Provincetown Banner and they took me and my niece's picture; look for us in the paper next week.

Well, I'll write as soon as I can.

Only Two Weeks !

I can't believe I'll be going to London in a little more than 2 weeks. I still need to raise money because I haven't been able to this week since I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out and it KILLED! I had to miss school for four days and I could only eat pudding, cold mac and cheese, yogurt and ramen noodles. This week I have lots of projects to finish for school and Final Exams.

Last week I went to a going away party for Amornmarn, our teacher from Thailand.

And, my brother Alex took me pond fishing and I caught my first fish in Snows Pond.

My whole People to People group is getting together for a picnic next week. My mom has to give them three parentgrams to give out to me during the trip - I guess so I don't get homesick.
Back to homework!

Sprained Wrist, the Zoo and almost $3,000!

In the last few weeks I've had a sprained wrist from tennis. Last Wednesday I went to the Providence Zoo in Rhode Island with my Science class. We saw many exotic animals like moon bears, giant anteaters, giraffe, snow leopards and much more. The Roger Williams Zoo was named after Roger Williams because he was the founder or Rhode Island who believed in religious tolerance and being kind to the Native Americans. My favorite part of the zoo were the African Wild Dogs that were all basking in the sun.

In writing class I've been working on "The Foghorn", our school's newspaper, and "Beyond the Horizon", our school's literary magazine. In "The Foghorn" my friend Lydia and I are working on a teacher and student spotlight which is when you interview a person; we're interviewing Jeanne Peterson, a special education teacher. In "Beyond the Herizon" my friends Bezie, Arianna and I surveyed students for the best title of the magazine.

On the farm in front of my house the Perrys are thinking about getting pigs, cows, and sheep. Right now they are only growing vegetables: broccoli, tomatoes, lettuce, squash, etc. I want my mom to get me one of the turkeys my science teacher hatched at school, but she won't let me because she doesn't want it to get eaten by a coyote.

My brother Alex got home from Wisconsin this week. He was at the National Championships for Baseball which his school Trinity won.

Today I made a tuition payment to my mom for People to People of almost $3,000. Only $3,000 more to fundraise! Back to it.

People to People Meeting

Last week I went to my fourth planning meeting with People to People for our trip this summer. We are a group of 13 students from the Cape and will be traveling with another group from Norfolk, MA. We're all having a picnic together on June 14th and will fly out of Boston on July 2nd.

We talked about money and ways to get Euros and British Pounds. I'm probably going to get a VISA debit card for spending money and we'll order the euros and pounds to be delivered to the house - sweet!

During the trip we have to wear khakis and a People to People shirt. Then, when traveling we have to wear appropriate clothes and "no shows": No bras, No butts, No backs....We also did some community service at the South Yarmouth Library where we've been meeting - mostly picking up trash outside.

Fundraising is going well. I've baked and sold 70 dozen cookies to teachers and friends so far. Also, my Grandpa Leo is asking his friends to help support the trip. My mom agreed to give me her contact list of friends to ask for donations. Next week I start asking local businesses if they want to sponsor me and have a link on this blog. The last fundraising job is to ask all my cousins for their email addresses, cell phone numbers, addresses and birthdays for a directory. Then, they can subscribe to the directory. Thanks to my cousins Sarah, Mary, Kate, and Martha for help with this idea.

Gotta go to tennis practice. Last week my doubles partner Alexis and I won our first set in a varsity match. After tennis, I have homework and then I'm making Thai Rice for our Night to Shine Night tomorrow. Amornmarn, our visiting Thai teacher, wanted me to do the Thai dancing but I get stage fright. So, I'll cook instead.
