People to People Meeting

Last week I went to my fourth planning meeting with People to People for our trip this summer. We are a group of 13 students from the Cape and will be traveling with another group from Norfolk, MA. We're all having a picnic together on June 14th and will fly out of Boston on July 2nd.

We talked about money and ways to get Euros and British Pounds. I'm probably going to get a VISA debit card for spending money and we'll order the euros and pounds to be delivered to the house - sweet!

During the trip we have to wear khakis and a People to People shirt. Then, when traveling we have to wear appropriate clothes and "no shows": No bras, No butts, No backs....We also did some community service at the South Yarmouth Library where we've been meeting - mostly picking up trash outside.

Fundraising is going well. I've baked and sold 70 dozen cookies to teachers and friends so far. Also, my Grandpa Leo is asking his friends to help support the trip. My mom agreed to give me her contact list of friends to ask for donations. Next week I start asking local businesses if they want to sponsor me and have a link on this blog. The last fundraising job is to ask all my cousins for their email addresses, cell phone numbers, addresses and birthdays for a directory. Then, they can subscribe to the directory. Thanks to my cousins Sarah, Mary, Kate, and Martha for help with this idea.

Gotta go to tennis practice. Last week my doubles partner Alexis and I won our first set in a varsity match. After tennis, I have homework and then I'm making Thai Rice for our Night to Shine Night tomorrow. Amornmarn, our visiting Thai teacher, wanted me to do the Thai dancing but I get stage fright. So, I'll cook instead.
